Birthday Times

Yesterday was a full day! Our island does a Mullet Smoke Off each year and we had to go over and get some...I love smoked mullet! Then after that we went down to my sister's for my nephew's birthday, I can't believe how fast they grow up:) Chance is becoming such a nice young man, and so polite.

This is the card that I made for him, and I was going to bring Jim's hat down for him to wear, and I forgot both! Then we had bought a remote helicopter for him and his mom and dad had just bought him one! But we had a great time with family.

The image in the card is from Sparkle n Sprinkle and I colored him with Prismacolor Pencils and gamsol. Then I used Dimensional glue and flocking for the mane. It dried puffed up and is soft like a real mane. I used the layout from Splitcoast this week.

This picture is one from a couple weeks back. After we left the Scrappin' Sistahs Retreat we stopped at my sisters for a bit to say hi, since she lives only a mile off the road. We got Austin to take our picture.

Thanks for stopping by,
Hugs and Smiles,
Jill

Halloween & Christmas

Everyone likes to make ornaments at Christmas time, and I always like making these glitter ornaments. I made a video on how to make them, so take a look at it.

For Halloween Lexy went Trick or Treating with her cousins, Lexy was a hippee which totally fits her:)

Flamingo Fun

Last week on of the ladies at church, who was up in NC all summer came back, she said she had something for me. It was this cute flamingo. She said she was at a store shopping with a friend and saw this and thought of me. It made me feel so special that she thought of little ole' me when she had been gone all summer. It was funny because I had just told my sister I needed to find a little flamingo for my van. So this was perfect. It even comes with my own star I get to name!! I made the thank you card to match.

Jim and I were invited to a Halloween Party and these are are costumes. You can't see it but I have a cupcake apron on. I was a Cupcake Diva, and Jim started out to be the Cupcake Boy (the hat) because he is a halloween baby, but then it morphed to a Hippee Cupcake boy, then kinda like an Elton John with the glasses added!

Hi Stampers,

This was the Technique last Monday over on Splitcoast. I love to display my cards and this is the perfect way.

I used Church People and embossed it with Antiquities, the sentiment is also embossed. The swirls are cut out with Spellbinders dies with gold cardstock. For the stop in the bottom center I glue 3 of the flowers together that I cut with a die. In the center of the flower is a gold brad.

Our island had a arts & craft fair today and Sherree & I had a table. It was alot of fun even though we didn't sell much (nobody did though). This economy is getting depressing:( Lexy got to play the tamborine with the band, and Jim & Lexy both tried their hand at the pottery wheel.

Thanks for stopping by.

Water birds

I love this flower medallion from Sparkle n Sprinkle, it has so many possibilities. Here is one that I stamped and embossed three different times and cut out different sections of it. It's a clean layout that I really like as well.

I love to watch the water birds as they feed. We have a pond just behind our house and right now at dawn the snowy egrets feed. They fly over the water dragging their feet and scooping up the fish. I've gone out the last couple of morning to photograph them. I haven't found the right setting for my camera though and they aren't clear pictures, but I still like them. I looked up some quotes to put on them.

Acrylic Smash Violin

Here's another card using the same technique. Music Expressions from SU is the stamp set I chose for this one. I used Gold, Lime Green, and Royal Fushia paints on the acrylic. The DS paper is from SU, layered on Soft Suede. I picked out an old sketch from Splitcoast as well for the layout.

Jim recently got a new kayak and we
went out in the bay. It was a beautiful day and a good tide.

Have a great weekend:)

Compass Rose

I wanted to make another card with the compass rose, and I had these three strips of cardstock (Certainly Celery, Night of Navy and Really Rust) sitting on my desk. The sentiment stamped one was left over from the other card I made, and I liked the look of the colors together, so went from there. The base is Really Rust cardstock. The compass is stamped on Kraft and cut out, then stamped on yellow and the star is cut out and attached with the brad, the whole compass is on dimensionals.
The sentiment is embossed with White Detail.

Today I took Little Bug out of his cage and the cat was quick to observe his freedom. They enjoyed sniffing, and everyone survived just fine.

Happy Day,
Jill

Fall Boots

The new technique last week on Splitcoast was Acrylic Smash. Go check it out here. I used a green and gold acrylic paint, and ran the left side of the panel through the Cuttlebug, and tied the Choc. Chip Satin Ribbon. The leaves (SU) are stamped with Brown Stazon are. The sentiment is an old retired SU set. For the background I used Crushed Curry, I distressed it and layered it on Choc Chip. The base is Kiwi Kiss.

Mandy got some new boots and is almost taller than her little sister with them:) WOW!!! look at those things! lol

Have a great day:)

Reptiles

As I was loading these pictures I noticed they are both reptiles. I made this card again using my pieces of scrap designer papers. but this time I changed up the layout some. I also added some criss cross stitching. I just used an Always Artichoke marker and made the x's. Then I ran it through the Cuttlebug folder and sponged the edges with Always Artichoke. The turtle is from Natures Nest (SU) and I used an aqua painter over the shell to pull some of the ink color around.

The other night we were out walking and came back right at dark and as I was coming up the front steps I found this friend waiting for us. Mandy used to pick up snakes without much hesitation, but this time Jim had to pick it up first and had it to her. It was a little red rat snake. They took around to the back yard and let it go in one of the trees.

The Journey

I love nautical stuff...and I found this compass rose from Inkadinkado and just love it. I did a quick collage background with the Versamark Resist technique. I used Bordering Blue ink with the brayer, then Night of Navy for the top compass.

I layered it on Night of Navy and added 3 large silver eyelets. The sentiment is embossed with silver and tied with a piece of rope. The sentiment is from SU.

On our way to school in the morning we listen to the radio and they always tell you what day it is and this day happened to be "Share a banana split with someone day"! So Lexy and I didn't need any further excuse to make one. We used a large bowl and piled in all the good stuff!!!

Hope you enjoy:)
